About the Curator
Amal Issa works as an organizer-curator, translator, and editor. From 2015-2024 she was director of the public program at e-flux in New York and online, where she organized lectures, symposia, screenings, exhibitions, performances, and numerous discursive programs. From 2010-2015, she was at Ashkal Alwan in Beirut, where she was Assistant Director, as well as co-founder and director of the pedagogical art program Home Workspace, which provided fellowships for artists within an annually reinvented curriculum guided by some of the world’s leading art practitioners, producers, theorists, and thinkers. In addition to her role in Home Workspace, she co-organized the biannual Home Works Forum, which presented and commissioned exhibitions, film screenings, site-specific projects, talks, and publications, as well as dance, sound, and performance art. In 2017-2018, Issa co-edited the multilingual publication tamawuj, which commissioned essays and multimedia contributions as part of the Sharjah Biennial 13. She has translated and edited books by Rabih Mroué, Fadi Toufiq, and Waddah Charara, among other publications. Issa studied painting and literature in Beirut. She lives in Brooklyn.
