Artist Statement: Eugene Jung builds post-apocalyptic environments that respond to contemporary catastrophes through sculpture and installation. At times, cartoonist worldviews are added to the landscape of ruins to construct an alternative reality. Jung’s practice does not simply imagine fictional or futuristic landscapes, but instead investigates how the invisible systems that shape our world—such as urban development, technological infrastructure, media imagery, and the flow of capital—are perceived and operate. Her use of pseudo-real materials suggests a complex relationship between reality and artwork.
