Artist Statement:
I am drawn to the role of myth, religion, and popular media in the construction of meaning. Exploring the intersections of personal and collective memory, reality and artifice, I draw from my own experiences to embrace complexity and reflect on broader social and political themes.

To visualize the layers of historicity we carry with us—approaching the world as a chaos that does not need to be tamed—I work with scanning, rephotography, collage, video, and bookmaking. I move through fragmentation, welcoming ambiguity, opacity, and amalgamation.

In my practice, transformation is both subject and method, mirroring my life as a queer Mexican immigrant and the child of an immigrant: continuously formed, deconstructed, and reassembled. I seek to inhabit this change and multiplicity, visualizing becoming and unbecoming as an aesthetic strategy.
