Bio: Video and performance artist, Tim Kwasny’s work is focused around the concept of personal identity, questioning the nature of how we identify ourselves to others and to ourselves.

Artist Statement: Am I still an artist when I’m not creating art? Is a teacher a teacher when they’re not actively teaching? Can a title ever truly encapsulate the entirety of a person’s identity? Or are the roles we bestow upon ourselves ephemeral and used as a convenience? Through acts of repetition, visual/auditory perceptual distortion, and often comically absurd acts, I am attempting to come to terms with the process we, as humans, go through on a daily basis to create stable identities. Trapped in our human bodies, we are caught in cycles of creation and destruction, with the hope of inevitable redemption.
