Nolan Lem

Bio: Nolan Lem is performer, composer and sound artist whose work reflects a broad range of influences and mediums. His work has been presented all across the US as well as performances in Norway, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland and Finland. As a saxophonist, he has performed at Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s, and the Highline Ball room in New York City. Nolan is signed to the Italian label, Cam Jazz, and has written and performed music for two full-length albums for his group, El Portal. As a sound artist, Nolan has presented his work at the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park, The Wallach Gallery, Riverside Park, Columbia University, the Spencer Art Museum, and the NIME Conference among others. He has studied at the Sibelius Academy, Eastman School, the University of Kansas and the University of Miami (FL). He holds degrees in jazz saxophone performance (BM) and Electrical Engineering (BSEE). He currently resides in New York City and studies at the Computer Music Center as an MFA candidate in Sound Arts at Columbia University.
